COVID-19 Positive Diagnosis

December 28, 2020

Dear Residents and Families:

As I am sure many of you are aware, the country and our state is experiencing an increase in the reported COVID cases.

We recently learned that we have two confirmed resident cases.  The individuals live together and remain isolated in our facility receiving cares with heightened infection control procedures.

Upon learning of these positive case, we tested all residents today, but no further positive cases were found.

However, out of an abundance of precaution, we have decided to suspend the indoor visitation booth, communal dining and group activities.  If we continue to see no further positive cases in subsequent mass testing for several weeks, the local health department will determine us to be outbreak free, and we can lift these restrictions. We can assist with virtual visitation during this period of time.

We also strongly encourage residents (and ask families to encourage residents) to:

  • Refrain from leaving the Cottonwood campus during this outbreak period. Staff can assist in obtaining any needed items;
  • When outside of rooms, wear masks;
  • Practice good hand hygiene;
  • When outside of rooms, engage in social distancing.

We have signed up our Community residents and staff for distribution of the vaccines once they become available.  Please remember that administration of the vaccine will not immediately eliminate the current risk for our residents and staff.  The vaccine is administered in two doses, at least 21 to 28 days apart, and the protection afforded by the vaccine will not be in place until some time after the second vaccine.  We will send you more information once we have more details.

We continue to monitor residents for any changes in their condition and \ will notify residents’ primary physicians and designated family members of any changes in their loved one’s condition, whether potentially related to COVID-19 or not.

We will continue to keep you updated as any changes at the facility occur.  Please reach out with questions, concerns, or requests for assistance.
